Why A Ladder Feels Fair

How it works

A ladder is not more random — it is more watchable.

01

Nobody lands twice

Every path ends somewhere different. A ladder is a shuffle in disguise, so one result goes to exactly one person.

One in, one out

02

The rungs decide, not the start

Picking the leftmost column gains you nothing. Which line you start on is irrelevant once the rungs are random.

Start column = no edge

03

Draw the rungs before the names

Building the ladder while the results are already visible invites suspicion. Make the rungs first, reveal after.

Rungs first, reveal after

04

Redrawing is choosing

A new ladder is a new draw. Agree how many you get before anyone sees a result.

Questions

03
01

Is the leftmost position better?

No. With random rungs every starting column has the same chance of reaching any result.

02

Can two people get the same result?

Only if you write the same thing twice at the bottom. Each column ends at exactly one slot.

03

Is anything saved?

No. The board lives in this page and disappears on reload.
